 Wirksworth and Cromford updates

The Hope and Anchor in the centre of Wirksworth has had a change of management and it appears a welcome change in the guest beer policy. They were showcasing a very good beer ('Cruck beam' from the new Wirksworth brewery alongside another guest, from Peak Ales. Both in very good condition. Give it a try when in town, especially if you arrive at a time when the Royal Oak isn't open....
And down at Cromford the Boat is also under new management and was sporting two local beers. Although a Punch house the new man has a free hand to buy in from the SIBA list so worth a visit.

 Matlock Bath update

The Princess Victoria in Matlock Bath has had a very serious makeover, which has completely altered the previous character. The beer quality was very good on our visit but i would personally no longer describe it as an agreeable pub. Nor apparently would a lot of the locals who by all accounts have boycotted in numbers since the tart-up. Why do they do this.... ???

Archery Tavern, W2 (walk 25) still closed with uncertain future.
Marquis of Granby (a try also on the Covent Garden circuit, walk 9) still boarded up.
Anyone know any others?

The London Pubs Group are doing an evening crawl of EC4 on Wednesday 11th of August starting at 7pm at the Black Friar, 174 Queen Victoria St, EC4.

This is also the start of walk number one in Bob Steel's book - London Pub Walks and their intinary is not too much different from that of the walk in the book.

Everyone is welcome to join us.

Hi folks, this forum is intended as a discussion forum for CAMRA's London Pub Walks- a place to share thoughts about the changing fortunes of pubs in the book, beer quality, experiences of walking the routes, and (on the sub forum) ideas and suggestions that could be used in a future update of the guide.

Please keep your comments legal, decent and honest ;D!
